As part of the requirements for the issuance of an accreditation certificate set by the Department of Transporation and Philippine Ports Authority, GAMA Foods Corporation, in partnership with CENRO Initao, conducted a Mangrove Planting activity held on July 1, 2023, at Taytay Mangrove Sanctuary, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
More than 50 employees from different departments helped plant 1,000 mangrove seedlings around the sanctuary which was greatly affected by recent typhoons.
This activity is part of the PPA Administrative Order No. 14-2020, effective February 2, 2021, which states that “all grantees or persons or entities applying with the Philippine Ports Authority for the issuance of accreditation certificate, certificate of registration (COR), appointment, authorization, including those awarded with contracts or renewal/extension thereof for the provision of services in the ports, are required to plant at least 1,000 seedlings of trees/ mangrove.”
